Train Links To Luton Airport
EDM number 603 in 2016-17, proposed by Gavin Shuker on 26/10/2016.
That this House notes the conclusions in the recent report from the independent consultancy North Star that timetable change alone would enable the current hourly East Midlands' train service at Luton Airport Parkway to increase to four fast trains per hour, and as a result turn London Luton Airport into one of the best connected London airports with journey times to London of less than 30 minutes; agrees that this change would deliver substantial benefits generating up to £110 million in additional rail revenue, making Luton Airport Parkway an integrated hub linking air, road and rail and providing easy access to much needed runway capacity at London Luton Airport; and calls on the Department for Transport to ensure a requirement for four fast trains per hour is included in the forthcoming consultation on the re-franchising of the East Midlands line.
