That this House notes that Glasgow Caledonian University has been awarded the Athena Swan Institutional Bronze Award for 2016-17; understands that the Athena Swan Charter was established by the Equality Challenge in 2005 to promote the advancement of gender equality and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects; further understands that the Charter takes into account representation, progression of students into academia, journey through career milestones and the overall working environment in assessing an higher education institution's commitment to gender equality; believes that the awarding of an Athena Swan Bronze award demonstrates a robust commitment by Glasgow Caledonian University to deliver gender equality; and congratulates the University on receiving this prestigious award.
