Prince Buster
EDM number 495 in 2016-17, proposed by John Cryer on 10/10/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Death and Performing arts.
That this House notes with sadness the death of the legendary Jamaican singer, songwriter, producer, boxer and musical pioneer Prince Buster on 8 September 2016; further notes that he broke many taboos, including becoming the first Jamaican artist to make a significant impact in British music, and paved the way for others to follow; recognises that his considerable legacy will endure for many decades to come; and notes that he will always be remembered as the first King of Jamaican music.
