Findings Of The Great British Puppy Survey 2016
EDM number 49 in 2016-17, proposed by Paul Monaghan on 19/05/2016.
Categorised under the topic of Animals.
That this House notes that the 2016 findings of the Great British Puppy Survey will be published on 23 May 2016 by a group of independent dog and animal welfare campaigning organisations; further notes that the findings highlight an unacceptable growth in the trade of very young dogs and a worrying growth in the online retailing of animals where little regard is shown to their breeding history or quality of life; expresses concern that the licensing of dog breeders is deficient in several substantive areas; and calls on the Government to overhaul legislation surrounding dog breeding and animal welfare, to enforce rigid quality standards and to ensure that animals being bred for sale are sustained and managed humanely at all times.
