Protection Of Marine Areas Around The UK

EDM number 412 in 2016-17, proposed by Alan Meale on 06/09/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Environmental protection, Fisheries and Marine environment.

That this House believes that following the recent referendum on EU membership, the Government should continue to strive towards UK fisheries being at or below maximum sustainable yield by 2020; further believes that the Government should not allow a return to historic levels of overfishing and instead continue to commit the UK to other key components of the Common Fisheries Policy, especially those concerning marine life discards, the provision of incentives for low impact fishermen, spatial measures for spawning, nursery grounds and sensitive habitats; and urges the Government to work towards making the UK a world leader in the protection and management of the seas.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
