Fares4free Support For Armed Forces Veterans

That this House welcomes the charity Fares4free which was founded by David Gibson to encourage taxi drivers in Scotland to offer free fares to armed forces veterans; notes that the charity works in partnership with local authorities, agencies and other charitable organisations to tackle loneliness and isolation amongst veterans; applauds Fare4free for its efforts to date in assisting more than 200 veterans on over 100 journeys; understands the taxi drivers involved in the project offer a companion service to ensure that veterans are able to attend important appointments; notes the initiative currently covers East Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Dundee, Paisley, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Inverness; and looks forward to the further expansion of Fares4free across Scotland.
