EDM number 288 in 2016-17, proposed by Martyn Day on 05/07/2016.
Categorised under the topic of Local government.
That this House notes with sadness the death on 2 July 2016 of Mr James Sibbald of Armadale, a former long-serving Councillor and public servant of his community; further notes that Mr Sibbald was first elected to Barbauchlaw Ward in 1977 and served continuously until standing down due to ill health in 2007, some 30 years later; notes that in 1995 he uniquely served simultaneously on three councils during local government reorganisation as a West Lothian District, Lothian Regional and West Lothian Council member; recalls that as well as his elected offices Jim Sibbald served his community tirelessly in many capacities, such as organising the local Remembrance Parade and serving as President of the Armadale Gala Committee for many years; and conveys its deepest condolences to his friends and family.
