Commissioning Of Infant Feeding Services
EDM number 277 in 2016-17, proposed by Alison Thewliss on 04/07/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Children and families and Health education and preventive medicine.
That this House welcomes the publication by Public Health England of guidance for the commissioning of local infant feeding services; notes that the guidance states that breastfeeding is an important public health policy; is glad that the guidance has been produced in conjunction with the Unicef Baby Friendly Initiative, which has significant experience in promoting breastfeeding; hopes that this guidance will reinforce to commissioners the significance of breastfeeding to child and maternal health; and supports the ambition that breastfeeding is seen as normal and supported by everyone in public services and in the home, out and about and when returning to work.
