Glasgow Janitor Industrial Action Dispute With Cordia Llp
EDM number 1120 in 2016-17, proposed by Chris Stephens on 28/03/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Industrial relations, Schools and Service industries.
That this House notes the lack of resolution of the long-running 60 week industrial action undertaken by primary school and nursery janitors employed by Cordia LLP, an arms-length external organisation owned by Glasgow City Council, over working context and demands payments; further notes that far from seeking to resolve the dispute Cordia are now seeking to remove dedicated janitors from schools by proposing a cluster model; notes that Unison, their trade union, believes that model is unworkable, a view supported by many parent councils; and regrets the unhelpful comments made in the Evening Times by the Leader of the Council implying that there is a political agenda behind the dispute which will go no way to achieving an amicable solution.
