EDM number 1115 in 2016-17, proposed by David Simpson on 28/03/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Children and families, Diseases, Health education and preventive medicine and Health services.
That this House notes the estimated prevalence of cerebral palsy, which is thought to affect approximately 30,000 children in the UK; recognises the importance of early identification of, and intervention for, children with cerebral palsy to ensure that these children and their families receive appropriate support to achieve their full potential and have the best possible quality of life; highlights the large variation in services identified in the report Variations in Care: An analysis of cerebral palsy provision, published by the charity Action Cerebral Palsy; and calls for the creation of a national register to record information on children with cerebral palsy, to accurately determine the local and national prevalence of cerebral palsy and to understand where improvements to cerebral palsy provision are needed.
