EDM number 1082 in 2016-17, proposed by Gavin Newlands on 16/03/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Construction industry, Employment and Training.
That this House notes that 6 to 10 March 2017 was Scottish Apprenticeship week; understands that the aim of the week is to celebrate the benefits that apprenticeships bring to individuals, businesses and the economy; highlights the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Women in Construction Event at the National Construction College in Inchinnan, which provided pupils with an opportunity to hear from role models currently working in construction; stresses the importance of encouraging more women to get into construction; further understands that CITB is the Industry Training Board and Sector Skills Council for the construction industry; congratulates it for its work in providing advice, courses and grants for training to help construction companies improve their skills to increase their competitive edge; and thanks the pupils of Trinity High, St Benedict's High School and Paisley Grammar for taking part in the event.
