Underpayment In BHS Pensions Deal
EDM number 1061 in 2016-17, proposed by Roger Godsiff on 14/03/2017.

That this House notes that Sir Philip Green has, at long last, agreed to make a financial contribution to make up part of the shortfall in the BHS pension scheme; further notes that by agreeing to pay £363 million, Green is not making up the full deficit and the pensions received by hardworking BHS staff will be only around 88 per cent of what they should have received; condemns Green's lengthy delays and attempts to avoid responsibility; and believes that Green's contributions to the pensions fund for BHS staff should cover the amount needed to provide 100 per cent of the value of their full scheme benefits, particularly in view of the fact that he and his family extracted more than £580 million in dividends, rental payments and interest on loans during his ownership of BHS.
