That this House marks the 10th anniversary of Cupar, Fife, as a Fairtrade Town; notes that Cupar Fairtrade Group has worked to promote and raise awareness of the Fairtrade campaign by encouraging the sale of products which support Fairtrade, organising activities each year to involve people of all ages for Fairtrade Fortnight and compiling a directory of Cupar businesses selling Fairtrade products; commends the efforts to promote Fairtrade by Castlehill, St Columba's, Letham, Ceres and Craigrothie primary schools, Kilmaron School, Bell Baxter High School, Churches in and around Cupar, shops and cafés; further notes that the Fairtrade Foundation is a charity that works to advance the livelihood of farmers and other producers who meet the Fairtrade Standards in developing countries; is impressed by the Fairtrade partners in Cupar and the Cupar Fairtrade Group for their success in promoting the rights and lives of Fairtrade producers in developing countries; and encourages other towns to also support the Fairtrade Foundation in its efforts to foster the development of fair trade around the world and to empower disadvantaged producers in the developing world.
