Headway Ceredigion

EDM number 101 in 2016-17, proposed by Mark Williams on 25/05/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Charities, Health education and preventive medicine and Health services.

That this House notes that each year as many as one million people attending hospitals in the UK will have sustained a head injury; further notes that 135,000 of those people are confirmed as having a traumatic brain injury and are admitted to hospital; recognises that brain injury can cause mobility problems, sensory loss, epilepsy, speech and language problems, issues with thinking skills such as memory and concentration and changes in emotions and behaviour; also recognises that many people who have suffered from a brain injury, and their families, may lack awareness of how a brain injury may change them; welcomes the work of Headway, a charity dedicated to helping those with brain injuries in promoting understanding of brain injury and its effects; also welcomes the work of local Headway branches in providing tailored support for those who have experienced a brain injury, their families and their carers; and commends the hard work of the local Headway Ceredigion branch who provide such an essential service.
