Bolton Wanderers Football Club

EDM number 888 in 2015-16, proposed by Yasmin Qureshi on 16/12/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Sports.

That this House notes that Bolton Wanderers Football Club (BWFC) is in severe financial difficulties and is facing the threat of administration; further notes that BWFC was a Premier League team and could now face the prospect of a 12 points deduction and possible relegation to League One; notes that BWFC forms part of the fabric of the community in Bolton, central to its sense of identity; notes that thousands of the club's supporters have shown tremendous patience, loyalty and passion; recognises that BWFC is in discussions with various investors and bidders and is hopeful that it will succeed in finding a buyer; and calls on the Sports and Tourism Minister to convene an urgent meeting between the club, the Football Association and HM Revenue and Customs to delay taking action for up to six months to enable the club to find a suitable investor and avert a further crisis.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
