Diabetes Control Through Technology

EDM number 872 in 2015-16, proposed by Virendra Kumar Sharma on 15/12/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Diseases, Health services and Research and innovation.

That this House commends the work of the diabetes team in Ealing in assessing the impact of intensive injection technique education and the use of a 4mm 32G pen needle on diabetes control; calls on clinical commissioning groups and other healthcare providers across the country to give people with diabetes choice over the technology they use and appropriate training in diabetes management skills; notes that use of poor quality technology can lead to increased pain and discomfort; is deeply concerned that patients who are multiple daily injectors are having the choice of the needle that they use taken away from them; and further notes the important role that innovative technologies play in supporting patients to lead full and active lives.
