Feed-In Tariffs

EDM number 766 in 2015-16, proposed by Alan Meale on 25/11/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Renewable energy.

That this House is alarmed by the Government proposals to cut by up to 87 per cent support for the solar feed-in tariff scheme which supports small-scale renewables, thereby decimating the rooftop solar industry throughout the UK; notes that such a strategy will put at least 20,000 people at risk of losing their jobs, result in almost one million fewer solar schemes being installed by the year 2020 and increase UK carbon emissions by 1.6 million tonnes per annum; believes such action will result in householders, schools, community groups and facilities being economically forced out of the solar revolution for a cost saving of less than energy companies routinely overcharge their customers; and calls on the Government to desist from this action immediately.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
