Scottish Interfaith Week 2015
EDM number 726 in 2015-16, proposed by Margaret Ferrier on 18/11/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Religion and faith communities.
That this House celebrates Scottish Interfaith Week 2015 which runs between 22 and 30 November 2015; notes that due to the Climate Change Conference in Paris in December 2015, the specific theme is on the Care for the Environment; further notes that in light of the tragic events in Paris on 13 November 2015, it is vital that people of all faiths, and those of none, all come together to combat rising extremism; recognises that local interfaith groups and faith communities across the country enhance Scotland's rich diverse society; agrees with the First Minister of Scotland, when in 2012 she said interfaith events are tremendously important in bringing together different communities united in a common purpose; encourages everyone in Scotland to get involved in any local events that occur; and hopes that Scotland continues to benefit from being a multicultural society.
