Unveiling Of The Statue Of Basaveshwara On The Albert Embankment

EDM number 716 in 2015-16, proposed by Keith Vaz on 17/11/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Art works.

That this House welcomes the unveiling of the statue of 12th Century Indian philosopher and social reformer Basaveshwara on the Albert Embankment; notes that the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, unveiled this statue and paid tribute to Basaveshwara for propagating democratic ideals and gender equality; and acknowledges that this would not have been achieved but for the tireless work of Dr Neeraj Patil, the former Mayor of Lambeth, who with a team of dedicated supporters worked together over the last five years to bring this ambition to reality.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
