Palliative Care - Marie Curie's Call For Action
EDM number 654 in 2015-16, proposed by Alan Meale on 04/11/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Diseases and Health services.
That this House is deeply concerned that too many people do not get the right care and support when they have a terminal illness; notes that every year an estimated 110,000 people across the UK, almost one in every five people who die annually, miss out on the palliative care they need as many older people, and those with conditions other than cancer, are less likely to receive specialist care as they approach the end of their life; and believes there is an urgent need to improve access to high quality palliative and end of life care for everyone with a terminal illness, and this unmet need to be focussed on as a priority with the Government responding positively to Marie Curie's call for action.
