Pre-Diabetes And Prevention

EDM number 642 in 2015-16, proposed by Keith Vaz on 03/11/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Diseases and Health education and preventive medicine.

That this House commends recent research by the University of Hawaii, led by Professor Dr Wei Jia, which shows testing may be able to identify individuals who are pre-diabetic long before conventional ways of measuring the disease; notes that patients who are diagnosed as pre-diabetic can take measures to improve their health and change their lifestyles to avoid the condition; and understands that the number of people with diabetes in the UK is expected to rise to 6.4 million by 2035 and identifying people at risk of developing the condition will be vital in any future prevention strategy.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
