That this House recognises October as Black History Month; celebrates the vital role that black and minority ethnic people have played in the history of this country; believes that the continued learning and understanding of black and minority ethnic history promotes integration and respect in communities; appreciates the work of community groups and organisations in the promotion of minority ethnic groups in civil society; applauds the record number of black and minority ethnic hon. Members in this Parliament; and calls on the House to consider the rich contributions to culture and science in this country by people of African, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Asian descent.
