That this House acknowledges the important work of the Glasgow North West Women's Centre, based in the Maryhill area of the city; notes that the Centre aims to bring women together and enable them to tackle issues of importance and to find practical ways of improving their situation, and to offer a safe, positive, accessible environment to empower women to develop confidence, raise aspirations and fulfil their potential; further notes that the Centre, founded in 1994, celebrates its 21st anniversary this year; welcomes the conference organised at the Centre on 9 October 2015, which explored the impact of welfare cuts on women, particularly those from poor and marginalised communities; believes that the role of such centres will become increasingly important as the welfare cuts agenda is implemented; and calls on governments, local authorities and funding agencies to ensure such centres are supported in this role.
