That this House congratulates Preston City Council on securing £49,600 from the Heritage Lottery Fund as well as further funding from Lancashire County Council, the Friends of the Harris Museum, the University of Central Lancashire and Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society to commemorate the Battle of Preston in November 1715, the last land battle to take place on English soil, where the English decisively defeated Scottish forces under the Old Pretender, seeking to regain the thrones of England, Scotland and Ireland; notes the successful event held in Preston on 18 July 2015; and looks forward to the commemorative events that will be held in November 2015.
