The Syriac People

EDM number 554 in 2015-16, proposed by Jim Shannon on 20/10/2015.
Categorised under the topics of Middle East and Religion and faith communities.

That this House expresses grave concern for the Syriac people, an ancient Christian minority who faced extinction in their own homeland of Tur Abdin; notes that once again these people, many of whom only returned in recent years, find themselves caught in the middle of fighting between the PKK fighters and Turkish security forces; and implores the Government to ensure that they are not forced to flee or be murdered in their homeland.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
