Canada-Uk Colloquium Report On The Challenges Of Cyberspace

EDM number 525 in 2015-16, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 14/10/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Internet and cybercrime.

That this House commends the recently published report of the Canada-UK Colloquium on The Challenges of Cyberspace: Living and Working in a Digital Society; notes the far-reaching recommendations in areas from innovation, education and skills through to internet governance, law enforcement and civil liberties; further notes that the report highlights the shared challenges facing both the UK and Canada as both countries seek to extract the extensive economic and social benefits offered by advanced communications and processing technologies; recognises that the report highlights that both the UK and Canada seek to achieve these goals while simultaneously struggling to mitigate the more negative consequences in areas such as espionage, criminality and erosion of personal privacy; and calls on the Government to continue to draw on the shared values of Canada and the UK in addressing these challenges and promoting further co-operation between both nations.
