Trial Flight Path
EDM number 428 in 2015-16, proposed by Hannah Bardell on 10/09/2015.
Categorised under the topic of Aviation.
That this House calls on the Government to require airports to undertake public consultation before trialling new flight paths, to consult on the viability of introducing a maximum trial period for new flight paths, and to make available an early legislative opportunity to establish an independent noise commission, as recommended in the Airports Commission Final Report; notes the disconnect between the regulations relating to aviation and the regulations relating to noise pollution from aviation across the various nations of the UK and the consequent difficulties experienced in those nations in properly managing noise issues related to aviation; is concerned that the nations of the UK do not have sufficient oversight of the Civil Aviation Authority; and seeks clarity on the role of the Airports Group within NATS plc versus the public interest represented by the remaining Government shareholding.
