That this House congratulates Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust on its recent Big Lottery Fund's Investing in Communities: Growing Community Assets award of £1,000,567; notes that the Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust operates to regenerate the local economy and that this award will allow the Trust to create a new community resource and visitor centre based at the Falls of Shin, between Lairg and Bonar Bridge in the Kyle of Sutherland, and to develop the site as an outdoor resource for the community, helping to regenerate the local economy through increased visitor numbers, jobs and marketing of local goods and produce; further notes that the centre and site will also act as a gathering place for people from an area of dispersed communities, allowing social interaction and participation in a year-round programme of organised activities and events attracting up to 160,000 visitors per year; and recognises that the beneficiaries of the project will be local residents and families, local businesses and visitors to the area that will derive income from the facility, which will itself bring ongoing benefits to the wider community.
