EDM number 1089 in 2015-16, proposed by Stuart McDonald on 08/02/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Charities and Diseases.
That this House congratulates Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland on its 50th anniversary, being celebrated during 2015 and 2016; notes that the organisation was originally founded as the Scottish Spina Bifida Association in 1965 by a small group of enthusiastic parents who each had a child with spina bifida or hydrocephalus; recognises the important work carried out by the charity across Scotland through the employment of specialist staff to provide information, support and projects to those affected by spina bifida, hydrocephalus and allied conditions, to increase public awareness and understanding of such conditions and to support all those affected to identify their needs and to empower them to make informed choices and decisions; notes in particular the specialist care and treatment provided at the charity's facility in Cumbernauld, and opportunities for breaks at the specially-adapted Rebecca's Cottage in Carnoustie; further recognises the generosity of many donors and trusts who help to make the work possible; and wishes the charity every success in the future.
