China And Market Economy Status
EDM number 1040 in 2015-16, proposed by Alan Meale on 01/02/2016.
Categorised under the topics of Asia, International trade and Economic policy.
That this House notes Government moves towards granting China market economy status; recalls the recent situation of the near total collapse of the British steel industry caused primarily by a combination of high energy costs and the dumping of huge quantities of cheap Chinese steel products into the UK, European and world markets; and believes that the Government should be aware of allowing countries such as China to enter the UK marketplace unless guarantees are given not to indulge in such unacceptable and destructive practices.
This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
