That this House supports Aberdeen's bid to be UK City of Culture 2017; recognises that Aberdeen would host an incredible year of culture; further recognises that the legacy of Aberdeen as UK City of Culture 2017 would be more significant for Aberdeen than the other 10 cities competing; and understands that the title would help to increase engagement with the arts in Aberdeen, bring to the attention of the world the city's incredible cultural offer and help attract talent to and retain it in the city.
