20th Anniversary Of The Scottish Traditional Boat Festival

EDM number 351 in 2013-14, proposed by Eilidh Whiteford on 03/07/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Cultural heritage, Shipping and Tourism.

That this House congratulates the organisers of the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival on the occasion of the event's 20th anniversary; notes that since its inception in 1993 it has grown from a local event celebrating the 300th anniversary of Portsoy Harbour to become one of Scotland's leading tourism events, generating in the region of one million pounds for the Banffshire economy; and believes that through the renovation of the historic 19th century Salmon Bothy, the operation of the local tourist facilities and many other ways, the festival has delivered immeasurable benefits for the Burgh of Portsoy.
