That this House welcomes the news that Leicester has been shortlisted to become the UK's City of Culture for 2017; notes that the bid has wide-ranging support from respected figures such as Sir David Attenborough; recognises that the competition has already highlighted the brilliant vibrant culture that the UK has to offer; and calls on the Government to recognise the vast cultural contribution that Leicester makes to the country.
