Industrialisation Of Dairy Farming

EDM number 27 in 2013-14, proposed by Adrian Sanders on 08/05/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Agriculture, Animal welfare and Farmers.

That this House notes that pressures are building for the increasing industrialisation of UK dairy farming and that a growing number of cows are being kept indoors for all or most of the year, many of which are pushed to extremely high milk yields; further notes the 2009 report by the European Food Safety Authority which concluded that breeding for high milk yield is the major factor causing poor health and welfare in cows; and believes that the factory farming of dairy cows must be brought to an end.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
