National Minimum Eligibility Criteria

EDM number 227 in 2013-14, proposed by David Ward on 11/06/2013.
Categorised under the topic of Community care.

That this House welcomes the provision within the Care Bill [Lords] of National Minimum Eligibility Criteria for care services across the country; notes that this will help to avoid a postcode lottery of care services, making the care system more consistent and fair and giving more peace of mind for people moving between authority boundaries; further notes that providing early preventative care decreases care costs in the long run, increases quality of life for residents and can reduce the prevalence of multiple chronic conditions; and therefore calls on the Government to set the level of any new National Minimum Eligibility Criteria at the current Moderate Fair Access to Care Services level or equivalent.
