Alleged Massacre In Bangladesh

EDM number 100 in 2013-14, proposed by George Galloway on 15/05/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Asia and International politics and government.

That this House notes the reports currently circulating on the electronic media about a massacre of peaceful demonstrators in Shapla Square, Dhaka, Bangladesh by security forces on 6 May 2013; further notes that the lowest estimates of the number of deaths runs to thousands; further notes there has been a news blackout about this massacre in Bangladesh; believes there should be an immediate investigation of this alleged massacre by independent international monitors; further believes these latest events mean that free and fair elections in Bangladesh will be extremely problematic when the caretaker government takes over; calls on the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs to demand a full account of the events on 6 May from the Bangladesh government; and further calls on the Bangladesh government to allow independent international monitors into the country to investigate the facts relating to this alleged massacre.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
