That this House notes that house-buildingin Britain is at its lowest levels since the 1920s; further notes that the economy is in urgent need of economic stimulus; therefore calls for an immediate boost to house-building and housing improvement in Britain as the quickest way to kick-start the economy; further calls on the Government to provide guarantees for housing associations; further calls for the abolition of VAT on home improvements; and further calls for a channeling of ring-fenced and time-limited capital funds to local authorities to boost the housing stock.
