Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team

EDM number 952 in 2012-13, proposed by George Galloway on 22/01/2013.
Categorised under the topics of Emergency services and Voluntary organisations.

That this House extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the four climbers who perished on Bidean Nam Bian in the Glencoe mountain range; notes once more the Herculean efforts of the volunteer Glencoe Mountain Rescue team under its leader John Grieve; further notes that the team are not only unpaid but raise their own funds; calls on this House not just to commend each of them but to recognise the risks to their lives which they and those of every other volunteer mountain rescue team in Britain take when they are called out; and conveys its profound gratitude to the men and women who fearlessly undertake these rescues in the most difficult and dangerous conditions imaginable.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
