Electricity Demand Reduction

EDM number 921 in 2012-13, proposed by Mike Weatherley on 15/01/2013.
Categorised under the topic of Electricity.

That this House congratulates the Government on the publication by the Department for Energy and Climate Change(DECC) of the Electricity Demand Reduction consultation (Cm 8468) which shows the potential for reducing demand for electricity by 154TWhper annumby 2030; believes that this shows that DECC ministers are taking very seriously the issues of energy saving, the elimination of waste, more efficient industry and commerce, reduction in the need for energy imports, warmer homes and social inclusion and the generation of employment in the construction industry all of which will help the UK economy; notes that the previous government completely failed to carry out this exercise; and so looks forward to seeing the Secretary of State's strategy to achieve those reductions.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
