EDM number 821 in 2012-13, proposed by David Morris on 05/12/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Renewable energy and Shipping.

That this House notes that the proliferation of wind turbines in the Irish Sea is starting to reduce the capacity of shipping lanes; further notes that the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has expressed concerns that should more wind turbines be built they may have to reduce their services between Douglas and Heysham; believes that the Government should not allowwind turbines to blight theUK'sshipping lanes in the same way they blight the countryside; supports calls from The Hon. Stephen Rodan, Speaker of the House of Keys, to oppose wind turbine developments in these shipping lanes; further supports the formal representations against them by the Isle of Man government; and calls on the Government tomove away from the construction of wind turbines in the vicinity of shipping lanes.
