That this House expresses concern over the detention of Nasrin Sotoudeh, a human rights lawyer serving a six year prison sentence in Evin prison, Iran; notes the unacceptable treatment of Nasrin Sotoudeh as an individual imprisoned since 2010 in breach of her human rights; applauds Nasrin Sotoudeh for her defence of political activists in Iran; congratulates Nasrin Sotoudeh on winning the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought alongside film director Jafar Panahi; is concerned by the deteriorating health of Nasrin Sotoudeh due to her current position in solitary confinement on hunger strike and with limited access to her family; recognises Nasrin Sotoudeh as a representative of the ongoing struggle for human rights internationally; believes that the Government should stand in solidarity with this figure to highlight its support for democracy; and demands the release of Nasrin Sotoudeh from prison by the Iranian authorities.
