Foreign Concern About Care Proceedings
EDM number 672 in 2012-13, proposed by John Hemming on 01/11/2012.
Categorised under the topic of Children's social services.
That this House notes the statements by the former chief justices of Punjab and Delhi, thatcase in care proceedings in the developed world are often based upon woefully inadequate evidence, including hearsay, conjectures and speculations, that would not be admissible in other types of legal proceedings; further notes that Nigeria, the Slovak Republic, Hungary and the Czech Republic have expressed concerns about proceedings in the UK; further notes continuing examples of malpractice in UK proceedings; and calls for Parliament to review some individual cases of alleged malpractice to identify the extent to which this problem in the UK is being concealed.
This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
