Categorised under the topic of Schools.
That this House recognises the importance of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and urges the Government to meet its commitments to provide increased aid for education in developing countries; further recognises that it is of vital importance that young people in the developing world have access to education given that 67 million children representing over 20 per cent of the population in these countries do not complete primary school; acknowledges that more effort is needed from the UK Government to meet the goal of universal primary education by 2015; supports theSend My Friend to School campaign led by school children across the world urging the Government to ensure that every child has the same right to education; and calls on the Prime Minister to make every effort through his position as co-chair of the UN High Level Panel on MDGs to encourage provision for programmes that provide young people with access to education and the support to remain in school.
