Fuel Duty And The Cost Of Living

EDM number 600 in 2012-13, proposed by Robert Halfon on 17/10/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Fuel poverty, Oil, petrol and natural gas and Taxation.

That this House urges the Government to put the wheels of white van conservatism in motion and scrap the 3 pence rise in fuel duty that is planned for January 2013; notes that Ministers have already taken strong action and delayed or scrapped a series of petrol and diesel tax rises over the last two years; further notes that fuel is now a full 10 pence cheaper than the last Labour administration planned; believes, however, that excessive petrol and diesel prices are still crushing British families and businesses, in part because energy companies are not passing on cheaper oil; further believes that fuel duty is still a brake on economic growth and a disincentive to employment; and calls on the Government to freeze fuel tax in January 2013.

This motion has been signed by a total of 8 MPs.
