Coatbridge Gaelic Football Under-14 Girls Team

EDM number 575 in 2012-13, proposed by Tom Clarke on 15/10/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Children and families and Sports.

That this House congratulates the Coatbridge Gaelic football under-14 girls team on becoming British champions following the girls' victory in the All-Britain Gaelic football underage championships; notes that these championships took place in London on 15 September 2012 and 60 teams competed; understands that the girls won all of their section matches prior to reaching the final, which was the first time that a team from Scotland has made that stage, and that, in the final, the team defeated a strong side; considers that this remarkable success was achieved thanks to the initiative of North Lanarkshire Leisure as, until 2006, youngsters in Coatbridge had no access to thesport; and wishes all of the Coatbridge Gaelic football teams, boys and girls, the greatest success in future competitions.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
