Asthma And The NHS Commissioning Board Mandate
EDM number 249 in 2012-13, proposed by David Amess on 21/06/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Diseases and Health services.
That this House welcomes the 30 advocates from across England who took part in Asthma UK's Meet the Patients event in Westminster on 19 June 2012; notes that the NHS Mandate will be a key opportunity to ensure that the priorities of the NHS are focused on getting services right for patients with long-term conditions such as asthma; further notes recent figures which show that 70 per cent of NHS resources are now being spent on managing chronic, long-term conditions and that asthma alone costs the NHS more than 1 billion per year; and calls on the Secretary of State for Health to highlight the principles of supported self-management, patient involvement in decision-making and continuous improvement in his forthcoming mandate for the NHS Commissioning Board.
