That this House welcomes the North West Evening Mail's Big Clean Campaign to make Cumbria spotless; highlights the destructive impact of litter on the tourism industry, local communities and the environment; notes that littering has increased by 500 per cent since the 1960s; applauds the community clean-ups and litter picking events taking place in Cumbria as part of the campaign; urges local people to participate after the success of last year's events in tackling litter, raising awareness and encouraging people to take pride in their communities; and calls on hon. Members to support similar community-led clean-up campaigns in their constituencies.
