That this House congratulates the Society of Biology on organising this year's Parliamentary Links Day on 26 June 2012and on the timely theme of Science and Sport in view of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games; notes that Parliamentary Links Day is an established and respected event on the annual Parliamentary calendar; welcomes the Society's commitment to serve the public benefit by improving the access of all hon. Members to scientific information and a better understanding of science; further notes the participation of a wide range of the UK's leading scientific societies including the Society of Biology, the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Physics, the Biochemical Society, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the Council for the Mathematical Sciences, the Society for Experimental Biology, the British Pharmacological Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Society for Applied Microbiology, the Geological Society, the New Engineering Foundation, the Royal Astronomical Society, the Campaign for Science and Engineering and the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee; further notes the keynote addressesby the right hon. Members for Havant and for Dulwich and West Norwood;further welcomes the contribution that scientific societies make to assisting right hon. and hon. Members on all sides of the House; and further welcomes the continuing contribution that Parliamentary Links Day makes to strengthening the dialogue between Parliament and the science and engineering community.
