Recent Comments By Sri Lankan Power And Energy Minister

EDM number 231 in 2012-13, proposed by Robert Halfon on 19/06/2012.
Categorised under the topics of Asia and International politics and government.

That this House condemns the recent comments made by Sri Lankan Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka, who reportedly said that supporting the Tamil leader could lead to 100 more massacres such as the one in Mullivaikkal, a Sri Lankan town; calls on the President and Government of Sri Lanka therefore to denounce these comments and make it clear that they do not support or condone Mr Ranawaka's statement; and finally, offers strong support to the Tamil people in seeking further devolution and civil freedoms such as property rights, in the north and east of Sri Lanka, especially in the run-up to the Commonwealth Summit in 2013.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
