That this House welcomesWorkoutat Work Day on 19 June 2012; recognises the importance of promoting exercise in the workplace and encouraging good working habits; regrets that time taken off work by people with a musculoskeletal disorder such as back or neck pain costs the UK economy 7.4 billion a year; further regrets that 31 per cent of people experience pain at work at least once a week; notes that economic and personal costs could be greatly reduced by encouraging better working habits and also by providing early access to services such as physiotherapy; further notes that the benefits of building more physical activity into daily life include increasing productivity at work and improving overall health and wellbeing; congratulates the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy for organising Workoutat Work Day and promoting positive health messages to employees and employers; calls on the Government to publish its response to Health at Work-An Independent Review of Sickness Absence; and urges NHS organisations to urgently implement the recommendations of the Boorman Review entitled NHS Health and Wellbeing.
